How do I watch a show?
I'm trying to watch a show on SideReel, but I can't figure out how to get the episodes to play. How do I get to a video to watch?

To watch a show, click on the show from your tracker, SideReel's homepage or relevant genre pages, or search for the show by title in the search box at the top of the site.
Once on the show page, the most recent episode will be displayed at the top, so you can search right there if that's what you want to watch, or for previous episodes, you can choose from the scrolling episode selector OR the episode guide list below that.
From the episode selector, you can click directly on the search options. from the episode guide, click to open the season and episode you want to watch.
Many shows will have a few official sources listed like for the network sites, Hulu, iTunes, Amazon, etc, but there are also more sources if you click the highlighted "Search Links" button. That link will take you to a search results page.
Because some bad or spam links can be added in with the good, we recommend you stick to the links that take you directly to a page with the video, and avoid the links that require you to pay, download, or fill out any personal information before accessing the video.

all you guys want us to do is sign up so you can spam our email, good job at that and making it hard to watch videos!

Hi Leo,
Sorry for the confusion, but unlike YouTube, SideReel is NOT a video host site. We simply provide a place for users like you to submit places to watch your favorite shows online.
As for e-mails, the only e-mail you will ever get from us is a Daily Calendar E-mail reminder of your shows coming up so you don't miss them -- and that's only if you choose to subscribe to it! If you're receiving a SideReel e-mail that you don't want, just click the "unsubscribe" link in the footer! -

The search box you're seeing is for the latest episode which will always show up like that at the top of a page. Just click the 'Go' button and you'll be taken to the search results page with the options to watch users have added there. Let us know if you still have trouble!

Hi deanna! The search box is just the top section of a show page for the latest episode of that show, if I can assume you mean a box like this:

If that's what you're seeing, then if you do want to watch that latest episode of the show, click 'Go' on that search box. That will take you to a search results page listing the viewing options for the episode like this:

If you want to watch an episode other than that latest episode, scroll to the Episodes section of the page, and click 'More' or the highlighted search link.
Once on that search results page either via the Episode section or the search link on the latest episode block, select any viewing option listed there, or if you'd like to see more, click the 'view all links' button you'll see at the bottom of the shortened list provided.
Because this video content is user-submitted, it's possible some spam has gotten in with the good, so we recommend you avoid any video sites that ask you to pay, download, or fill anything out. (Unless it's a trusted site like iTunes.) If you do see a spam link, you can click the 'report link' button next to the link on the search results list.
Let us know if you get stuck somewhere in working this out and we'll be happy to help further! -

I have the same problem Kendra and the answers you have gotten do not clarify it. I could go to iTunes myself. Where is my playlist and how do I get items to play in it? The only options I have found are to go to another site like iTunes or Megavideo, which requires you to enter a credit card. I am not doing that for something that is free. Don't trust it. So what is the straight answer to this question? How do I watch shows? BTW, doesn't it seem odd that it is so hard to do the one thing this web site advertises it is there to do? Cardenio

Just a quick hint about watching shows on Megavideo....you don't have to pay for it. I know that megavideo will give you a message after watching 72 minutes that says you have to either upgrade to a paying account or wait another 54 minutes to continue watching...however, the way to get around that is to simply reset your modem (unplug your internet connection and then plug right back in and wait for it to reset) then you can continue watching your megavideo show. Everytime you reset you get another 72min so I always reset in between episodes if I am watching more than one...hope this helps you guys!

Hi Earvin, are you pressing play on the SideReel episode block like this:

or are you pressing play once you've clicked through the search results options and gotten to a video hosting site? If you're using a source like Megavideo, for example, they have an ad that opens in a new tab after you've clicked play, but you can just close that ad tab, return to the original video page, click the play button again and the video will play just fine.
If that doesn't help, let me know and I'll be happy to help further!- view 2 more comments

How do you get to the Side Reel episode block that looks like this? I finally got to the Search Links place but the only thing that came up when I choose Megavideo were advertisements. This is really confusing. Can you help?

I have been trying to watch a tv show on here, and honestly, it's a lot harder than I think it needs to be. When I choose the episode I want to watch, and then hit Search Links, I clicked on amazon.com which brought me to a bunch of comments about the episode, and not the actual episode itself. Help please. Thanks,
Analee -

Hi analeelst,
If you have any ideas on how to make a show easier to watch on SideReel, we are happy to hear it! Please keep in mind that SideReel doesn't host videos or episodes - we simply provide a place for users to submit places to watch, so we can't simply favor certain hosts over others, unless it's an official network site or service. I'm not sure what you're referring to about Amazon, though that source usually requires purchase before you're able to view. Unless you intend to purchase the episode for download on Amazon, I suggest choosing from the other video host options that should appear when you click "Search Links." -

Hi laureno1000, there are a good amount of options to watch older episodes of currently airing popular shows, and there are also often good options to watch older shows as well.
For older episodes of a show, just scroll to the Episodes section on a show page, and if you scroll under the current season that is automatically open, you'll see the rest of the seasons you can click to open to show all the episodes. -

ok I'm trying to watch Moesha, its showing on here that you have it but as im reading exactly how you said to watch the shows its not showing what your explaining its showing something completely different....so what am I supposed to do?????
-

hi wykenya!
What are you seeing? Make sure you're on the Moesha page (http://www.sidereel.com/Moesha) and not on a specific episode page and you should see something similar to what's pictured in the instructions above! -

Uh yes, I've been trying to watch bounty hamster episode 20 the lost world, but its no use, how do i watch it so i can see it?
-
SideReel doesn't host any videos, but instead is an openly editable entertainment site where users like you add links to various video hosting sites for others to watch. Unfortunately, many older and/or lesser known shows like Bounty Hamster just don't have any or many options to watch online available for users to add. If you check out a popular show page like The Office, for example - http://www.sidereel.com/The_Office - you'll see how a page looks that has options to watch.
If you think there are options around online for Bounty Hamster, you just don't know where to look, you're welcome to add a request to our To Dos section where users and moderators check to see how they can help around the site - http://support.sidereel.com/sidereel/... -

I just joined this site and am confused like a lot of others. It's made to look like the shows are on the site and are free, but I've clicked on True Blood and you have to subscribe to HBO at the Comcast site or pay for it on itunes. I've tried a few shows and was directed to Hulu or the actual networks website so why do I need Sidereel and I want a real honest answer cause I'm ready to post on FaceBook about this...
-
Hi Jeff, there are official sources like Comcast and iTunes, but there are plenty of other options users add as well. Just click 'get more links' under and episode and select a different source. Generally sites include embedded online streaming videos which should work just fine for you. Let me know if you still have trouble!
-
-
-
-
-
-
Spam links can get in with the good, so only use those that are online streaming videos which are fine. Avoid any that ask you to pay, download, or fill anything out before access to the video. Hope that helps!

Since this new version of the site I cannot find any links to watch any of the shows I have been enjoying for the last 6 months .
I choose the show, the series and the episode, then just get several blank boxes. There are now no links since the site layout changed.
I cannot watch anything. Please help...
Many thanks, Caroline -

Do you have another browser like Firefox or Safari on your computer? If not, it's just as easy as downloading it and opening it to use. Here's where you can download:

Safari - http://www.brothersoft.com/safari-for... -

Thank you Kendra.
Yesterday, there was no 'Search Links' button coming up, and no links. Today it's appeared, so I can breathe a huge sigh of relief and return to my near addiction of CSI and Without a Trace lol
Caroline-
Great, glad it's working for you! Would you mind letting me know which browser you were using yesterday and today (if different)? There's been an issue with seeing the "search links" button in IE7. Thanks!

Oh.. now that I've looked into it, there was a difference in the two times I checked the site. Both my work laptop and my netbook use Internet Explorer 8. However, the links only show up on the laptop (one I'm not meant to use for Sidereel or anything other than work).
On my Acer Aspire One netbook, still using I.E. 8, none of the links are there, just empty boxes. So, it appears I still can't use the new site.
It used to work perfectly on the same machine before the upgrades.
Is there anything you can suggest?
I tried to attach a screen print to show you, but it saves as a scrap item, which this system won't attach.
Please help..
Caroline-
There have been reports of issues in IE where the "search link" button just shows up blank. Our team is working on a fix for this, but in the meantime, you should be able to see and use the button in any other browser like Firefox or Safari if you have one of those or can download one on your computer.

Please help me with how to watch a show....ever since the new changes, when I click on a show link, all I get is a box saying I just watched it, which I didn't!!!
-
Currently when you return to the site after clicking a link to watch, you'll receive the prompt to watch the next episode because the system assumes since you've clicked a watchlink, you have watched the episode. We've receive feedback that this needs some updating because that's not always accurate when you try a few links before choosing one to watch. When that does come up before you've actually watched, you can just click the X on the box and return to the search results page to choose another link.
If you're saying that just clicking the direct link button shows you that pop-up instead of getting that pop-up after you've returned to SideReel after looking at the video link, please let us know as that sounds like it'd be a bug instead of just something we need to update for that next episode pop-up. Thanks! -

I think I know what's happening. That happens to me too sometimes. You click on a link to watch a show, then receive the pop up telling you it's been watched and suggesting you can get the next show. What I've found is that the link opened a new Internet explorer page, but puts it behind the pop up box, so it's hidden. Next time, try checking to see if it's hiding behind. Hope that helps :-)

Hi ramsestrap, you should find more info in this thread on how to watch a show. Since SideReel does not host videos itself, it relies on users to upload ways to watch. Some are region-specific, but others are internationally available -- it depends on the source.

Hi Nazevyanga,
Wasn't sure if your question referred to how to actually watch a show through SideReel, or more about the lack of links for Touched by an Angel. While there are some working links, the show may have limited availability online. Since SideReel does not host videos itself, we rely on users to submit ways to watch. -

Hi Jen, sorry to hear that you're having trouble navigating the site! You should find some helpful information above on how to watch a show. It sounds like you're referring to the "Welcome Back" pop-up that occurs when you click a watchlink and return back to the site, which may be inaccurate if you accidentally clicked a spam link and weren't actually able to watch the episode. If you're still having problem, let me know!
