How do I watch a show?
I'm trying to watch a show on SideReel, but I can't figure out how to get the episodes to play. How do I get to a video to watch?

To watch a show, click on the show from your tracker, SideReel's homepage or relevant genre pages, or search for the show by title in the search box at the top of the site.
Once on the show page, the most recent episode will be displayed at the top, so you can search right there if that's what you want to watch, or for previous episodes, you can choose from the scrolling episode selector OR the episode guide list below that.
From the episode selector, you can click directly on the search options. from the episode guide, click to open the season and episode you want to watch.
Many shows will have a few official sources listed like for the network sites, Hulu, iTunes, Amazon, etc, but there are also more sources if you click the highlighted "Search Links" button. That link will take you to a search results page.
Because some bad or spam links can be added in with the good, we recommend you stick to the links that take you directly to a page with the video, and avoid the links that require you to pay, download, or fill out any personal information before accessing the video.

Hi Melanie,
iTunes typically charges for their episode content, yes, but you're not required to choose a paid viewing option – that's your choice. Make sure you're clicking the "search links" button for the full list of viewing options. -

Hi Barbara! So sorry to hear you're having a frustrating time using the site. Based on your topic I assumed you're trying to watch a show through the site, but I'm a bit confused by your mention of an embed code. If there is something else I can help you with aside from watching a show through SideReel, please let me know! Otherwise, please refer to the instructions in the 'official response' above.

Hi Barbara, I got your dispute email but it doesn't sound like you read my reply. I'm having a hard time understanding what you're trying to do on the site. If you'd like, you can send me an email at info@sidereel.com with the specific questions you'd like answered and I'll do my best to keep it as straight-forward as possible!

i feel like everyone is having the same problem, the links aren't working. We aren't all completely computer user impaired. I followed instructions above so something is clearly not right. PLEASE can we get a step by step simple reply on how i can watch ANYTHING Alex?
-
Hi Betty,
Sorry for the confusion, but SideReel doesn't host any videos. We simply provide a place for users like you to submit links to watch the episodes online, so you essentially can organize and find all your shows in one place. The instructions above describe how to appropriately find these viewing links so you can watch your show. If the links aren't working, that's a completely different issue than not knowing how to find them. Please report broken links by clicking the "report link" button or by emailing them to spamsucks@sidereel.com. -

This is a horrible website! You avoid helping people with their questions on how to just watch a show...When someone subscribes to your site, you don't even have the decency to tell the customer that he will have to pay to watch the show in the end, and you are just the middleman. From reading this page of customer questions, everybody thinks that they are stupid and computer illiterate, when in actuality, it is your site that is misleading. Even my hotmail account doesn't trust the initial email I received from SideReel. I totally disagree with the way you conduct business and will try to discourage others from joining your site.
-
-
Hi Joanna! I'm disappointed to hear that you think I'm avoiding helping people with their questions - I take pride in taking the effort to do the complete opposite, actually, and give each person specific guidance when needed. I'm having a hard time understanding your frustration because you're free to ask any questions at any time and I will answer them - but your reply didn't have any questions at all.
You absolutely do *NOT* have to pay in order to watch shows on SideReel. While we save the main show page for featured verified sources (some of which require payment in which to view), make sure you're clicking the "Search Links" button for the full list of user-submitted viewing options, most of which are completely free of charge.
We don't host any videos, we simply provide a place for users to submit places to watch TV online, so you can essentially keep track of your show-watching progress, create your own personal TV calendar, get news & buzz about your favorite series, and find where to watch them all from one place.
Let me know if I can clear anything else up! -

Sounds easy, but nothing works here. I wanted to watch Person of Interest. Got to the link, click on it. Nothing. Went back and reread all the how tos, go back to page, try search. Get a list of sites. Tried one. Got nothing but spam links.
What's with this? Please check it out yourself without platitudes to your site visitors. It shouldn't be this hard or frustrating. Your links do not work. -

Dear Alex,
I followed the official instructions listed in the official reply. They don't work. Click on American Idol, April 5 and get IdiotBox, two women talking, or a lady in a black top with text behind her. No show.-
Hi Greg,
Sorry for the confusion, but it actually doesn't sound like you followed the instructions illustrated above. Our original SideReel review and news videos show up on our actual American Idol page and episode pages and shouldn't be confused for episode content. Per the instructions above, in order to watch an episode of a show, you first must choose a viewing link from either the featured links selection or by clicking the 'search links' button and choosing one from there. SideReel doesn't host the episodes, so you must first choose a link from which to watch it. -

Hi Alley! Sorry for the confusion, but SideReel doesn't host TV content itself. We simply provide a place for users like you to submit and share your favorite places to watch these episodes online. Hey, I'd like to watch some of the old Combat! series TV shows.
Did a search for it in Google, got a Sidereel hit, clicked that hit & wound up here:
http://www.sidereel.com/Combat!/seaso...
All the viewing links are blank though. No Hulu, etc. Not even weblinks button. Just a screen fulla stuff that nothing but eyecandy, looks like.
So... my question is a simple one.
If Sidereel ain't got it available, not even weblinks, then WHY THE BLANKETYBLANK IS SIDEREEL SHOWING IT AS ONE OF "THEIR SHOWS" AVAILABLE HERE?
Simple answer requested, bitte...... danke.
Wondering if it's just yummy bait I smelt, & now it's bein' switched to frikkin boiled okra or something, if ya catch my drift. Lotta that kinda Bt&Sw crap going on on the net these days. Really REALLY annoying. Makes me wanna just X 'em out forever, instantly, but thought I'd ask here first before I blackballed Sidereel due to undependability from their Google hitlist links, because *I* might be doing something wrong.
Lemme know please...... any one of you bodys who cares, wants ta edumakate me.... Thnx a bunch.

What you need to understand is that most people are searching for "name of show/movie watch video online free". And this site, plus several more just like it, are popping up.
No you can't watch videos here. As you say you're not a host. It's up to visitors to register & post links to the actual hosts where you can watch videos there. And it's up to other visitors to worry about if those links come complete with viruses or phishing schemes. So basically this site's like a search engine or directory within a search engine.
So I've just spent way too long clicking on link after link only to get sites like this or ones that expect me to register or ones that expect me to install yet another video player all because people don't know how to properly use tags/keywords. You may not be selling anything yet it's still false advertising.
I really wish the WWW had better rules/regulations against this. We need a few sites where we can watch videos online for free...not 50 directories w/ links to other places. -
-
Hi Dawn! I'm sorry you're frustrated with the nature of our site, but just to be clear, you do NOT need to register for SideReel in order to browse the links submitted to the site. We're a completely free service, and you do NOT need to download any sort of software to use the site. You're absolutely right in the sense that SideReel serves as a sort of search engine for links to watch episodes online. It's also a community where you can also create your own personal TV calendar, mark off your show-watching progress, and browse the available links to watch each episode from one place. We're sorry you feel misled or misdirected here for whatever reason, but we don't claim to provide hosting services.

I just joined this site today in hopes of finding a way to watch CSI Las Vegas. I followed the bread crumbs right up to clicking the episode to search for and choosing an option for what sites to search on. But no matter what link I clicked, it ALWAYS took me to this page:
http://www.sidereel.com/CSI/season-2/...
There were about 10 results claiming I could watch/download/buy CSI online, but that link was the only page I got after clicking every one of the results. I REALLY don't want to download ANYTHING because I have fried 3 laptops in the past for downloading the wrong things. Can I get a little help, please?-
Hi Casey - you don't have to download a thing! DivX is our sister site, so we're naturally always game for a little cross-promotion, but it absolutely is not required.
You have to actually go TO the link on that page. That's the viewing option. You can go directly there and skip that page entirely by signing in and clicking the 'direct link' button on the previous page that sent you there. -

All I know is I just signed up and every link I go to Wants me to pay a subscription to the linked site. That is not watching the episode for free. I don't have the money for a subscription else I would have kept my Netflix account open. This is a big bummer. Thanks all the same...but I am gonna delete now cuz Free Is obviously not Free.
-
Hi Valerie,
Make sure you're clicking the 'search links' button for the full list of viewing options. Paid sources will be clearly labeled with a dollar sign (as is the case with most Featured Sources) – all others should be completely free of charge, no sign up required.
Regardless of the link option you choose, SideReel remains completely free. -

SPENT HOURS with this and every other misleading website who is making money by putting ads for others, links to software...etc...so we end up with no movies, frustrated families...and a computer full of a bunch of junk we never wanted in the first place. Why not put...WE ARE NO MORE THAN A GUIDE TO TELL YOU TO GO TO PAYING SITES? Obviously the truth would kill your sponsors. Your back ground color should be brown....
OH! By the way...you advertise that NETFLIX plays Dexter early seasons...they don't...BUT since they were added because of you...they will send you one DVD at a time for even MORE money.
I contacted the Attorney General about you and them...and of course they said they had no knowledge of you using their namke...so it looks like you'll get in trouble by way of themj.
Well, at least your promises were SUPERNATURAL,your questions are answered by some GOSSIP GIRL, the outcome for you is GRIMM and I only wish DEXTER could know how you're ripping us all of in his name...and the only reason I am glad I never MET YOUR MOTHER is because she had .EPISODES of pregnancy with a BUNHEAD like her BABY DADDY that made a PRETTY LITTLE LIAR like you.
No wonder today's MODERN FAMILY has a HOUSE more filled with ANGER MANAGEMENT issues instead of GLEE.
You are probably nothing more than a handful of DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES wishing you could have JERSEY SHORE lives...but you are mere MISFITS and not the COUGAR TOWN you think you are. The LYING GAME turns yours husbands into MAD MEN, your children into SCRUBS and your own filthy existance into SWAMP PEOPLE.
Time for LAW AND ORDER to investigate your CRIMINAL MINDS and do the INTERVENTION which will expose you QUEER FOLK and HEAD CASEs. Make no BONES about it, HAPPY ENDINGS won't happen when you're IN TREATMENT. THE BIGGEST LOSERS will be you. PSYCH!
(I hope that made everyone smile...since nothing else on this site is worth even a second look.)
Too bad I can't find a TV series called YOU &^$I#*#*@&@*$^%^())...because THAT really would be appropriate!-
Hi Cynthia!
While we appreciate your sense of humor in this situation, and your clever wordplay using so many of our favorite TV titles, I'm afraid I'm left a bit confused about what you're having trouble with specifically and why you are unable to watch your shows. In the future, please feel free to ask for help earlier before you get so frustrated and waste several hours as you described! We're here to help!
SideReel is not simply a guide – SideReel is a TV website where fans like you can submit and share places to watch TV online. Just because we include paid viewing options in our listings, doesn't mean those are the only options. Per the official instructions above, you should be able to find both paid and free viewing options through SideReel, depending on availability – which are distinguished from each other by a "$" label. Make sure you're clicking the 'search links' button for the full list of viewing options for any given episode.
Keep in mind that SideReel doesn't "advertise" for Netflix or any similar video site - we're simply showing you the submitted viewing options for each episode, which often include Netflix. If you think this is a mistake, please feel free to click the 'flag for removal' button so our team can review it.
Let me know if you're still having trouble, given the instructions outlined in the official response above, and I'll be happy to clear anything else up! -

This site is an absolute waste of time. YOU can't watch shows here, so then what is the point. Google and other search engines can find what i need, i don't need this BS of a site for that. It's a site for a lot of Advertising revenue. You need to go away and not get people angry and frustrated and give false hope.

What I'm trying to do is click on a show and episode I want to watch, and have it play on my computer, right then and there. But, I can't figure out how to do that. Isn't that the purpose of SideReel? To watch tv online? Because, if that's it, it's not working. It'd be pretty lame if it was ONLY to check off episodes you've seen.
