New Site Feedback
What gives with this site. Whatever yo have done is terrible! This is the worst redesign that i have ever experienced! Your web page creator should be fired! It's too confusing to navigate and I can't find my profile, my shows, or my tracker, are these things coming back or is all of my previous information lost for good? WTF?!

1Site latency is a result of a lot of users coming to SideReel. It takes a lot of work to make SideReel perform under there conditions. We are listening to you and are trying to tackle the biggest issues first - to keep the site up and give people access to their shows. We had to temporarily sacrifice some features to accomplish this. Please bear with us. Features will re replaced soon and the site will perform better. We've been working 24/7 for months to get this done. Thanks for your comments. Please be assured we are working as fast as we can to improve.

my reply was written whislt other users were posting (like romans reply). but i still cant help feeling that sidereel went ahead without bothering to ask a sample group first. most of the biggest sites these days have a selection of regular users who they will go to with upgrades. this usually takes a month or 2 and then they iron out any of the things that have a very poor feed-back.
your new site is slow, unresponsive and just plain confusing. how could you think we (your users) would like what you have done with OUR site? without us, sidereel wouldnt be here. and yet you STILL give us a quater (if that) finished version of your new site and then expect us to sit back and wait for however long for you to put things right!

well then he lied to me when he wrote that. and no one from sidereel said at the time "he doesn't work for us, dont listen to him."

Well Charlotte.....in the spirit of fairness.....you were being kind of a whiny little child about all this situation........
You didn't like the changes, you told them, they didn't listen or make the requested changes soon enough and you kept going and going and going and going and going at it........ Although I agree there are a few things that can be improved, you always have the prerogative leave the site and not use it again.....your choice....I chose to stay and wait it out.-
I read the posts a month or so ago and am really surprised she is still going - also I remember at the time that he was not a sidereel employee at all. He even talked about "when I use sidereel" etc - further indicating he wasn't an employee.

same here Nanette ye there are a few issues and i have told sidreel about them but i am still fairly happy with what i have and to be honest the shows that i have mentioned to sidereel about are probably at the bottom of there list of things to do as they are not your everyday run of the mill showslike the csi's or chuck or shows like that so i will wait and watch other things i cant understand why ppl who say they have moved to another site keep coming back to complain just ignore the e mails you get and move on

Hey, I was wondering if is/when it will be possible to get rid of the annoying message welcoming me back to sidereel. When viewing slightly old episodes it is incredibly annoying as most of the links won't work so I have to click off this screen over and over again. I've been using sidereel for ages now (I think near to years), and joined recently to save time because of the direct link thing - but this is getting really irritating! It seems small but doing it over and over again is monotonous.
-
I don't mean to moan by the way - the site is still really convenient, it's just this one thing has been getting at me!
-
-
Hi rich!
Don't feel bad about voicing your opinions -- that's what this forum is for! ;) I totally understand your frustration regarding the "welcome back" pop-up. It was originally intended to give the site a more personal feel and help direct you back to the show page, but I understand the annoyance when you're having to try multiple links until you find the video you wish to view. While you may have to bear with it just awhile longer, we are currently working on fixes for it, ie: the ability disable it in the future, or having it appear only when you've watched a significant amount of video. Thanks for the feedback and for bearing with us! -

wow i really must be very lucky i have found that i can watch my shows with out a prob most of the links work straight away for me iam going to grumble once again though sorry ppl but i wish we could have the ability to add shows again and start new show page's its frustrating not been able to do this and i know i can request shows to be added and seasons updated but it does not seem to get me any where iam still waiting any way enough of the gripping all in all this site is great cant get enough of it keep up the good work all of you at sidereel

Hi Simon, thanks again for the support and sorry that you're frustrated with the fact that users can no longer edit episode and season info! If you haven't heard already, we may offer a moderator role in the future for interested users, so stay tuned!

I have the same trouble as the people above are tacking about. But more spesific is that when I have watched a show I track and press watched where the mini tracker is, that episode do not dissapear, but stay and that really makes me annoyed and confused and I see that there are more people who has trouble with the tracker.

i m also very unhappy with new sidereel , they don't reply the problems just give cookie cutter answer same time and also merge all the problems without read..... they remove all the queries ..... most of the time remove the links from previous shows and some time don't add links ....i have 5 sites and i submit same links on each my site ....but they remove my most of the links from their list and when i ask they don't reply ....... just merge my problem and if reply in 2 or 3 weeks then the same answer "quality reasons" and my other site's link of the same show was not removed ....while.... all the links are same.......... then y they don't remove all the links , the quality is same(perfect)............

I love the new layout but the colors don't really go well together maybe you could change that.

I think you should change the way the dark and light blues graduate into one another on the bar with the show title on the home page. it is really bad to look at it gives a double visioned sea-sick feeling to look at. If you made them just the solid blocks it would be much better

So I'm super pleased to see how well you listened to all the ideas and problems people were having with the new site and implemented the changes to satiate us all (slow and steady wins!).
There's just one last thing -- which you addressed, but I think it could be refined to make it simpler (i.e. easier). Instead of having a pop-up window that allows the user to go to the next episode (or mark 'bad link', etc), just put a "previous" and a "next" buttons at the top and bottom of the list of links. It would be similar to what 'watchseries' has on their link lists.

Please go back to the old format. The new one makes no sense. Before on my TV show schedule it showed only the episodes I had not yet watched. Now it shows every episode I have ever seen. How is that helpful? It just takes up space and makes it hard for me to find the links to the episodes I want to watch.

so at first i didn't like the new profile section but i can see how it can be better than the old one but it will still take some time getting used to.
but when i do go to watch an episode i dont like how i have to scroll through pages to find the videoplayer i prefer. many videoplayers dont work for me so i tend to stick with a select few.
My idea was to revert the link section back to the previous style where you select what you see. it will make things alot easier

Just wanted to offer some feedback from a link contributor.
The site update makes it a lot more difficult to add links, also the amount of traffic coming from sidereel has decreased ten fold since the changes - obviously a lot of people who add links are webmasters looking for traffic and if they aren't getting it they won't take the time to add the links any more so this is bad news for every one.
One of the big problems with sidereel is obviously the spam and spammers removing links, in the old version it was easy to see if your link had been removed or not as a list of sources was available in the sidebar - now I have to manually scroll through every page to see if my link is still there or not - and as I can't work out the order of the list (it seems to change every time?) it's even more difficult to find.
I just went through the 5 pages on Big Brother USA episode 26 looking for my link for example, I couldn't find it so assumed it had been removed, I added it back (after eventually finding the 'add a link' button, it took a while...) but it says it's already there, I have checked again and still can't see it so am a bit bemused..I think the issue is that the links are in a random order and change every time you go to another page? And this is certainly going to make it almost impossible to check for my own links on all the episodes I add them to weekly :(
I also spend a lot of time removing dead links (especially those pesky megavideo ones) but the random order, not being able to click to go directly to the site and lack of list in the sidebar is going to stop me from doing it as it will just be too frustrating.
Another thing is that usually when a link has been removed if you try to go to it (it shows up in our referrals lists on various tracking scripts webmasters use) it will say 'This link has been removed' and makes it a simple few clicks to add it back - now it just takes us to an error page and you have to start again by navigating to the page first and then adding it back manually.
Overall I like how it looks better now, but from a webmaster (and anti spam fighter) stand point it's a bit of a disaster :(

We sidereel users are thankful for the upgrade but I must say... the user interface at the 'My shows' page is bollocks in comparison to the last one.
When 'searching', dividing the links in pages blows big time. Let us 'search more' and use the browser search tool to identify easily the spurce we preffer.
Sending us to another page in order to get to the video link? At least I hope you're getting some sort of redit for that.
Thanks for the effort but... c'mooon, you guys used to rule ;)

So have you decided definitely not to include the news, reviews and discussions on the profile page?
-
Hey Craig! Good question. As of now the tracker is geared more towards tracking your shows and setting up your personal calendar. While we don't currently have plans to incorporate news/reviews/discussion notifications on the same page, that's definitely something we'll look into for the future. In the meantime, you can find show-specific news & reviews, etc on a particular show page.

I hate this new update. I can no longer check to see if my favourite providers have postings for a particular show and episode. Why would you remove this feature. All it needed was a select all/deselect all button so that we could quickly choose a few providers from the long list and it would have been perfect.
And the idea of paging the links is anything but helpful..annoying, frustrating, time consuming, and even insulting. Now it takes me a lot more time so search through the various links looking for certain hosts. It all just seems like a way to create more pages to show more ads and generate more revenue for you guys at the expense of the user's experience.
You used to have all the links on the main page -> then you put the links on a separate page which i didnt like but whas ok with because it was still fast and easy to search through links. Now this paging feature makes the process take longer and though it generates more money for you it just annoys us.
Thanks to that im off to watch-series and tvduck. Your changes just lost you a dedicated viewer.

I really despise the new format - the tv listings on the home page and on my user tracking page don't expand and you can't scroll -- so you can't see them all -- also on the search page you can no longer eliminate links by unchecking like megavideo and well i really liked the function because so many megavideo links have been spam lately

Thank you for deleting my "Watched episode" check marks. Thank you for making a much slower site. Thank you for putting more obnoxious video ads all over the site than turn themselves on and have no pause or mute button. Thank you for not including "direct link" buttons. Finally thank you for somehow making your episode result lists MORE disorganized. I had no idea that was even possible.

I never comment on things like this but It amazes me that some people can be such idiots, no web site is perfect but it is the content that makes it grate and I’m not just talking about the shows but the reviews as well, lets not forget that this is a free website offering grate content. I guess what I'm trying to say is stop the bitching!

I think that it was better when sidereel users could add/edit episodes, because now many shows are behind.

Really don't like the new set up! Due to new configuration, it's hard to see "at a glance" what episodes are available/ unwatched in my list. Too much stacked vertically. Was better when it was more spread out.

I would just like to say that I really don't like the change of design on the page were I can see the shows that I am tracking. It was a lot easier to find the show I was looking for before (I am tracking a lot of shows), and now it just hurts my eyes to look at that page. Is it possible to change it back to the old design?

Hi Lene! That's completely fair -- thanks for the honest feedback! Unfortunately there's no way to revert, but we're working on new updates to the tracker. We'll definitely keep this in mind, as we don't want your profile to be difficult to read!

I don't get why you have to change a website that was fine as it is. Now the page where I can see the shows I'm tracking is really horrible. with the old layout there was a great overview, that's totally gone now, the page became a big mess!
Please just change it back to the old version or do something about it, I love this site, but this just makes it horrible to find something... And I also dont see the point of all those vids on the pages that start playing automatically. Just write it down or something, I dont want to be forced to hear it.- view 1 more comment

Hello Alex,
At first the tracking page looked like a list, now it more looks like tiles. And a list is a way better overview then tiles or atleast in my opinion. The name of the show in bold, and big like it is in the current layout, but the "next to watch episode" shouldn't be also bold. The pictures of the show are also not needed... So something like this... Use 2 spaces between shows instead of one between everything, that also makes the overview crappy..
One Tree Hill (Hiatus)
---------> Season 4, Episode 11 - Everything In Its Right Place
White Collar (Current)
---------> You are up to date!
You get what I mean? Oh and btw I'm just giving my opinion ofcourse so I'm not saying what you should do, I'm just giving tips on how it could be...
And thanks so much, went to my preferences and changed it right away! -
-
Thanks for the clarification and the feedback Saffler! We'll keep it in mind for future updates to the profile! Don't hesitate to weigh in with more ideas as you think of them!
-

-
-
ok 1 more thing haha... It would be great if the shows would be listed on status not on alphabet.. So all tracks that are on Hiatus are down in the list and all current above.
-
-
Hi,
to add to the post above, have you considered the following for future updates? (I, like many, track a lot of shows and the list is becoming unyielding).
1. Allow to filter so I can display only shows that are current or on hiatus, or by channel, date of broadcast, etc. That would keep a long list shorter and easier to search.
2. Allow a NOTES area of sorts next to each show so that I can enter some personal comments (that would only be visible to me).
Thanks for all the hard work!
T.-
Hi gialappa!
Thanks for the feedback! We hope to include future updates that will allow users to sort their tracker based on personal preference, or at least have the ability to hide certain shows on hiatus. Stay tuned!
We haven't considered the possibility of notes - but we like it! I think that would definitely add a more personal feel to the private tracker page, especially when trying to organize the many shows we TV addicts track! Thanks again for your input! -
-
thanks for the reply. I have to say that you have increased my addiction to TV but I can live with that! :)

I'm thinking that maybe I should apologise. When I was writing here, I didn't take into account the likelihood that some readers might not be as familiar with the English language as others. While I have no problem with things like metaphor and sarcasm, I forget that such nuances only serve to confuse others.
When I spoke of us as spoiled children, I was using a metaphor and had no intention of offending anyone. In fact, I responded to you immediately with an apology when you first took umbrage. When you declared as proof that I did in fact work for Sidereel, despite my numerous assurances to the contrary, simply because I knew the name of their CO, I responded with sarcasm. And yes, offense was then intended because i don't like it when however many I tell someone something about which I would have no reason to lie, they persist in their quest to refute me. And yes, offense was intended because if someone so much as calls me a liar, I take that as license to call all kinds of things.
As far as someone from Sidereel writing to inform you that I am not an employee, isn't that a somewhat unrealistic expectation? This is a users forum afterall, and so unless it says underneath a person's photo or beside their name that they're an employee, an official rep, an administrator, or whatever other position they might hold, the fair assumption to make would be that we're not Sidereel employees, none of us, and you don't have to listen to any of us. All our comments should be taken with a grain of salt or a spoonful of sugar, or pushed aside with the peas and fed to the dog. You don't have to listen to any of it, which if my experience with you is any measure, just might come to you naturally.
