New Site Feedback
What gives with this site. Whatever yo have done is terrible! This is the worst redesign that i have ever experienced! Your web page creator should be fired! It's too confusing to navigate and I can't find my profile, my shows, or my tracker, are these things coming back or is all of my previous information lost for good? WTF?!

1Site latency is a result of a lot of users coming to SideReel. It takes a lot of work to make SideReel perform under there conditions. We are listening to you and are trying to tackle the biggest issues first - to keep the site up and give people access to their shows. We had to temporarily sacrifice some features to accomplish this. Please bear with us. Features will re replaced soon and the site will perform better. We've been working 24/7 for months to get this done. Thanks for your comments. Please be assured we are working as fast as we can to improve.

my reply was written whislt other users were posting (like romans reply). but i still cant help feeling that sidereel went ahead without bothering to ask a sample group first. most of the biggest sites these days have a selection of regular users who they will go to with upgrades. this usually takes a month or 2 and then they iron out any of the things that have a very poor feed-back.
your new site is slow, unresponsive and just plain confusing. how could you think we (your users) would like what you have done with OUR site? without us, sidereel wouldnt be here. and yet you STILL give us a quater (if that) finished version of your new site and then expect us to sit back and wait for however long for you to put things right!

I really don't like this update. I hate how it expanded every single show I track, even things I've already watched. What I used to like the most was the separation between my complete list of shows (ones I watched already and ones I planned to watch) and shows I was in the process of watching. Now everything is smashed together. It's huge, long, and unwieldy. If I'd come to the site when it looked like this, I would not have started using it. Is there no way to switch it back to the way it was? It was so much faster, cleaner, and less flashy. Please fix this! It's impossible to find anything I actually need in this mess.

The tracker (as I seem to have read in the posts made by the staff) is working as intended - and it is PLAIN WRONG. Can you make it possible for people to revert back to the old profile site? i really cant see myself getting used to this one and it is very cluttered. i have already messed up with the shows i have and haven't watched and now i have to try really hard to find them

I dislike what you have done. Now all the show I watched already are listed again and i have to weed through everything. there are shows that iw as tracking and in the middle of watching and they are no longer on my lists. the way things need to be navigated is not easy and annoying.

I'm sorry but I cannot understand the new format. I have just spent 30 minutes trying to find out where I post the links. The old site was much easier to understand. You have all of the programs at the bottom of the page and this was much easier to follow. Could we have the choice of the old site or the new site. If not please tell me where I can post the links.

Also, what happened to the Direct Link option on the pages? Now, I have to open a new tab which links to a link which then links to the video page?

Yeah the whole point of signing in was to have a tracker and the direct link thing... now NEITHER of them work or don't exist or whatever!

I didnt like the new site at all. All my shows got mixed in one list, and when i tryed to mark then as watched it didnt work, so i had to open Every single season and check Every single episode, to mark it as watched. But the shows are stil there, i liked it before when i could have all my shows on the side. it made it too hard, so i removed all the shows that i have watched previously.
And the news/discussions are gone, i used to like to come in and read news about my shows, i cba to go and read news about all shows, and i cba to go in on every single show to see if there are any news.
This new sidereel sucks, if it wasnt for the tracker i would stop using sidereel. -

This is the only update I've ever complained about!
What happen to the direct link!!@!!
It's a pain the a*s to go to each page individually and then have to click a link!
Also, when I go to my show page, they now take FOREVER to load. Seems like it's pulling too much information and the shows need to be cached or something.
If I don't have the direct link function, then it's really easier just to use google to find my shows, and it takes LESS TIME TO LOAD.-
AND now we have video ads on every page which slows everything down even more!

I can log in but after that I can't find anything that pertains to my list or Tracker that I had. I agree with redbucket, it would be easier to just google a show to watch, especially since you no longer have your lists.

I agree, this is by far the biggest fuck up they have ever done. The old tracker on the side, click and gone once you've watched was the best, this new BS sucks. It took me like an hour to reclick everything i'd ever watched on all my shows. When I click on my profile name to get to my tracker it takes 8 minutes to load. GO BACK TO THE WAY IT WAS AND FIRE YOUR DESIGNERS!!!!!

Roman plese read the posts if you do you'd get the correct information to make an educated response...but those you're makeing just shows you don't read the post but only browse them....it was said that you can't get to the tracker because the via via my profile doesn't work or takes 10 minutes to load...I personally haven't been able to access my tracker thru the profile since you've gone with this horrible upgrade

I have the same login issues, and I have an incredibly fast connection and fast pc. The waiting for my profile to load is unbearable. This just so ruined my day... bout to head to another site. I loved this one because of the tracker and it's usefulness, now that that is null and void, I guess I'll be on my way...

I completely agree. This new design is not only confusing and awful - but now most of the links don't even work, and we can't filter through them. HATE having all the shows listed on one page. Old design was far superior.

WHY would you change a perfectly well layout to ... THAT?
You messed up my "To-watch" list. It took me forever to click away everything I already watched and then I refresh the page, only to see that it is still there.
And couldn't you have chosen something less ... bulky and ugly. Fire whoever is responsible and go back to the old design. PLEASE -

just went on for first time since change, Ya I too find it harder when all your shows are listed so big and then when you go to find a link its harder to find the ones you want now. you can't eliminate the ones you dont want like in the last update to web site. That was one feature i really liked

This new sidereel sucks big time... Please fix our homepage so it is similar to the last sidereel... there is no need to have every single one of our shows show up there in full? You guys should've done some sort of survey to find out if the last one was even bad.. which it wasn't.. it was PERFECT

Sidereel, you should never run a redesign until you know it works. This new one won't save my checkmarks for watched episodes, "watched season" does not check all the boxes for "watched episode", there is no "Track" button, and I can't see any of the buttons or find links to watch the shows. Also, please read my comment all the way through before responding... the last time you responded to one of my comments, your response was completely irrelevant! Also, please find some way of automatically saving my watched episodes. I'm tired of having to recheck them every single time!

I agree. The old site was so smooth to navigate and I had told so many people how much I loved this site. Now I can't find my way around. Most of all, where the "my tracker". I can't find shows that I have watched and really don't like the idea of having to put in each individual shows. This new site is a step backward with new graphics.
Is it possible to not use the BETA site? -

1. Since SideReel is a big site, there were a few features we had to cut to get the changes out sooner. Please bear with us. Most of the old features will be added back shortly.
2. We will improve navigation based on your feedback.
3. You can get to your profile by clicking on your user name. That is your tracker page, which has all your shows.
4. We will soon add a view that shows only the upcoming episodes you have not watched, so that you do not have to see all episodes of shows in your tracker.- view 7 more comments

I think you guys should have selected some active users to do a beta run while the "old" site is up. You could have mentioned it in the weekly videos and posted it on the front page for people to sign up. You can receive feedback and work out the bugs, user interfaces, etc. while you get the new site to be fully functional with everything users treasure about SideReel before the launch. It's free information that can help you get to know your audience! Sure, you may have picked the best design team (so you think, no offense), you may love the new site, your design team may love the new site, but isn't it about your audience? If they like it? If they think it's better, improved, etc? Please don't make the mistake like many other companies have done in the past, don't ignore your audience/customer.
In all honesty, I'm very close to trying to find another site to replace SideReel because of the new interface... The site in general isn't as user friendly as it had been. I was part of a forum for 4 years and they recently changed their UI (many thought for the worst), many members left because they hated the new site... there are other sites out there that can provide the same content and many are not afraid to make the switch if it comes to that.
Best thing to do now is to revert to the old UI for the main population while you get a beta test group running, having them use a direct/private url and private feedback forum. A lot of users are willing to help improve the site... but many more users do not want to see a half finished website.I love SideReel and I want to see it grow in the right direction. -

If you were using Facebook to log in and did not have a SideReel account that you could use to log in, your Track list is not lost. Currently, you cannot log in only with Facebook. We will ad this feature back as soon as possible and you will be able to get back to your Tracker. If you had a SideReel account and linked it with your Facebook account, you can still log in with your SideReel account.

i cant help but wonder if anyone at sidereel is really interested in what we have to say. i have read all the above comments and they all say pretty much the same thing........and yet, i havent seen ONE answer from anyone envolved with this monstrous (i was going to say upgrade, but its more like a big nasty DOWNGRADE).
its a horrible redesign that has us all climbing the walls in frustration. like others, i have tried to load a particular show, only for it to take an age. and when it does, what i get is every single link they have and A: no link removal panel (which was very usual) and B: no direct link....... -

This new layout sucks so much! I can't even find the links for the shows I watch and it takes 2516554613 years to load the pages. If the site stays like this then I'm just gonna have to go use another site that is so much easier to understand and navigate (like watch-series.com). Please change it back to the old site or make some major changes to this one so that I can actually find the links to the shows I want to watch.

The site has grown significantly. We needed tons of big tech upgrades to serve everyone for years to come. The sooner we made changes, the better for everyone. Also, we needed to get the big changes done before we were too deep into the TV season.

Very well said Darren. I feel like all that hard work that's been done was a waste because the site was perfectly fine the way it was. It's unfortunate there was no testing of the new scheme, get some feedback from your users that really keep the site alive. You could've kept the old sidereel available to those who find this new layout doesn't work for them. I am now gonna track my shows in a different way to avoid sidereel. It's not the end of the world for me but if people follow suit it could mean the end of your jobs.

Folks, agree that the first release could have been a lot better, but with the TV season here, we needed to get changes out ASAP. Yes, more testing would have helped and we are listening to your comments. Almost all of the changes mentioned in this thread will appear on SideReel soon. In fact, many improvements are done but can't be released without affecting site performance. As soon as we improve performance, we will release these changes.

I sympathize with all of the heat you've been taking. I am sorry that you have to endure it. I just think that we all would have like to have been notified of such changes and exactly how they were going to come about. If you had informed us ahead of time, and told us that changes would come one at a time, but ultimately the site would remain much the same with a few improvements, we would have been much more receptive to it. Patient even. Just a thought for future consideration.

there is a simple and effective solution to your mounting problems....and seeing as you acted hastily, close the damn site down for 24 hours, fix the problems and let us have it back in full working order without having to worry about whether what we want is back. we know it'll be back because you just said you are listening to what we say. oddly, the one thing you havent told us is why you felt you had to make such major changes in the first place. everyone on here agrees with one thing....IT WORKED AS IT WAS. so roman, are you now telling us it wasnt working?

With the TV season here, these changes were made as late as possible - still sooner than you and I wanted. If you do not log in, you can still use the old site. So yes, I am saying that the old site was terminally ill under the load of growing traffic. I know this is frustrating. Please accept our apologies and commitment to improve.

Is it possible to tell us what was absolutely necessary change to upgrade the site. It is apparent that users are unhappy with number of these upgrades (for instance the shows being on one page rather than at the bottom). Was this a change which was absolutely necessary. If not can we go back to the original. In other words only upgrade what is absolutely necessary and leave everything else as it was before.

you know if i didnt know better, id swear you have a facebook acc yourself. the only people who call me D are on there......
but ok, the best way of dealing with this is to let us know youre having problems. most regular users (myself included) have problems getting onto the old site from time to time. for me personally, i just figured the site was over subscribed at that particular time. go back 5 minutes later and it was all back to how it should be.
i like sidereel and will continue using it. i rarely have problems and am never worried when i do. but this move just had everyone [here] very (well) annoyed to say the least. you all do a great job keeping us in online tv, and im certain most of us would thank you for what you do. just that in the future, please give us (i use US because im sure there will be others who will agree with what im saying) more information before and during transformation from old to knew.......
is that too much to ask??

what do you mean protect the links of supporting users? Do you mean mods being able to lock pages? If so, I agree with this change, even though I was a mod myself - because there was definite mod abuse going on.... which is why I joined as a mod to begin with ("if you can't beat them, join them")

The links can be automatically removed by anybody. I added some links and 15 minutes later they were removed.
