Hey, I'm trying to subscribe to the calendar on my profile page, but I'm using a non-web based calendar, (Rainlendar) which means I can't use the calendars url, and I also can't download it directly to my calendar.
As a workaround to this, I downloaded the .ics file and added it manually to my calendar. I then wrote a script that re-downloads and overwrites the .ics file occasionally to update it, and this works fine. But the times on the shows are not in my time zone. Is there a way for me to fix this?
I think the times listed, are the times when the shows air in America, I want it to list when they are available to me in the UK.

Hi bensutton,
Thanks so much for the report! We'll look into it. As of now our subscribe feature is still really buggy, so stay tuned for updates once we iron out the kinks! -

The ical feed works mostly, but there's some problems... for example, it shows that the amazing race is on at 9pm when it's actually on at 8pm (missed the show cause of this). And I noticed the length for some other shows (such as House) are only 5 minutes long... from 8 to only 8:05

Hey, FYI, since my calendar subscription is only in the wrong time zone (instead of the times being completely wrong,) my solution to this is to use my calendars time offset feature to add an extra 6 hours to the times I get from Sidereel's subscription.
So just find out the time difference between your time and the time the subscription says your shows air, and adjust accordingly.
I hope this helps! -

When I use the URL to add items to Google the default is GMT and not my current timezone. You can not change it in Google and it is set in Sidereel correctly.

Hi Bill, thanks for the report - we're still ironing out the kinks for the subscribe/import feature. Sorry for the inconvenience in the meantime!

Hey bill... if you have access to a web server, this issue can be fixed with a simple php script that corrects the poorly formatted .ics file:
I cant take all the credit for this file as its based on something I found on the internet. I have made some modifications to correspond to the file that sidereel produces (for example, the last "str_replace" line in the php file removes the unnecessary "Watch " before the show name in every event.)
All you have to do is create a file called "index.php" on whatever web server you have available, and copy in the following (making sure to change the URL at the top to correspond to the one sidereel gives you when you press the subscribe button). You then give google calendar (or whatever) your "...php" link instead of the "...ics" link
Note, you may also need to add to the web server a file called ".htaccess" that includes only this one line:
php_flag allow_url_fopen on
(that will allow reading the .ics file from an external site)
Also note that this is for the Eastern time zone (and includes rules for daylight savings). You'll need to modify a little bit if you aren't in the same time zone. -

Admin - any chance on getting a fix for this and other calendar issues (some shows showing up at 8a instead of 8p, etc) - would like to have calendar directly subscribed, even though the workaround works most of the time, it is still a PIA and does rely on every user having access to their own server.

When I Subcribed to your calendar thru google calendar; the hours displayed are wrong. Example a show that starts at 8:00 pm is diplayed as a 4:00 pm. I checked the time zone and it's the correct one.

It is a known issue, the only work around is to create a php file on your own server (shown above) and then subscribe to the php file....

My account time zone is Eastern TIme (US and Canada) but the .ics feed to my calendar is set in GMT. As a result, the shows appear in my calendar 5 hours before they air.

Thanks, I don't think I'm savvy enough for that fix. I'll just deal with the wrong times until you guys come up with a solution.

that fix involves a personal server, and coding knowledge! not anybody can just do that!

When I subscribe to my sidereel daily calendar in Google Calendar, the timezone that is on that calendar is +0, GMT, where I am in +4, EST so it says all my shows start 4 hours before they actually do. Is this a google calendar problem or is there something I can do to fix it?
THANKS!

Same thing happens to me. Seems like it's a Sidereel problem that needs fixing.

Sadly you're right - I'll be sure to post an update when a final decision on the fate of our subscribe feature has been reached! Sorry for the inconvenience.

In calendar subscription (through ics file) there's no timezone set, so all tv shows displays at US time, even when i'm not in us timezone.
It can't be fixed on google calendar settings side, so i guess it's have to fixed by sidereel to works properly;)

When I try to add url on GCal, it gives the time zone in GMT. I can't fix this from GCal as it is coming directly from SideReel. Is there a way to adjust the calendar so that it displays the proper time (EST)?

So, I stopped using my calendar for a while (I just used the website instead) and now when I try to get this working I can't see the events.
It turns out, the events are being set in 1970 at the time "#H:59"
This used to work just fine (albeit, I did had to offset the air times to be correct in my timezone) any idea what's going wrong here?-
Hi ben! Thanks for the screenshot - I'll pass it along to our tech team! Which calendar app is this?

This is rainlendar2, the most recent Linux version available on the website. My way of getting the subscription on this calendar is by downloading the sidereel.ics file (the one linked to with the subscribe button,) which USED to work very well. If it helps, here is the contents of the downloaded .ics file http://pastebin.com/sJwRipZz

I can see the last post from 4 months ago...
It seems that I still have the problem today...
The tracker calendar show the time according to my setting for the location and it is correct. When I subscribe the calendar in google (my location setting is same there ) the time is -4 hours... (which actually is not a original time either)
Hmm it's interesting that few post is about 4 hours difference....
Can you please help.-
Hi Ewa,
Unfortunately this is as designed – we haven't issued a fix for this yet. -

should we open a new topic as long as this one has status "answered" ?

The question has already been answered, but that doesn't mean we're not aware that the subscribe feature is lacking (to put it lightly). In the meantime, you can attempt to use the user-submitted fixes if you wish to use the feature as is.

I love the fact that I can choose my favourite shows and SideReel will notify me on my phone when it's about to start. But because I live in Australia I wish it would notify when the show was "actually" being aired, not 15ish hours prior! You get where I'm coming from?

My calendar in Google and my settings in Sidereel are both for GMT -5 (Eastern Time). My tracker shows correctly but the calendar display in My Google is off by four hours - it imported as GMT. [see attachment]
How can I fix this?
